Bachelor's/Master's Program

The Bachelor's/Master's Program at The American University of Paris is a way for motivated, currently enrolled undergraduate students at AUP to begin working towards a combined bachelor’s and master’s degree during their senior year. Through careful course selection, students taking this option can earn double credit by taking up to two master’s level courses as part of an undergraduate degree, saving money on their postgraduate studies while, in some cases, graduating a semester early, and securing an early and expedited acceptance.

A combined bachelor’s and master’s degree offers both the academic grounding of AUP’s global liberal arts undergraduate curriculum and the specialization of postgraduate study. By accelerating your master’s program, you’ll be taking graduate-level courses with postgraduate students as part of your bachelor’s degree requirements. It’s an option that requires dedication and hard work, but prepares you well to enter the workforce with a graduate degree ahead of your peers.ÌýÌý

How It WorksÌý

Our Bachelor's/Master's Program lets you take one or moreÌýgraduate-level courses in your senior year of undergraduate studies. You will be able to assign up to 8 credits from these courses to both your bachelor’s and master’s degree requirements.ÌýÌý

You can combine any undergraduate major with any of AUP’s master’s programs. Depending on how closely your chosen subjects align, graduate courses taken during your bachelor’s will either contribute to the major’s core requirements or require use of elective credit. If the latter case, it is important to plan ahead to ensure you have elective credits left in your senior year to apply for the Bachelor's/Master's Program.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS ANDÌýSENIOR YEAR

• You can start discussing a combined bachelor's/master’s degree with your academic advisor from the moment you arrive at AUP – but you won’t apply for the option until your junior year. You’ll need to show you have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and have earned at least 64 credits.
• To begin the application process, you’ll meet with a professional staff advisor at the ACE Center and submit (or re-submit) a Junior Degree Check (JDC) that clearly lays out your plan to complete the requirements of your bachelor’s degree while layering in up to 8-credits worth of master's course work during your senior year.
• Once you’ve meet with an ACE advisor, you will be provided with a link to the Expression of Interest Form, which serves as a streamlined application.
• Expression of Interest Forms will be reviewed by AUP's Office ofÌýÂ黨ӰÊÓ and by the Program Director of your master’s program of choice. If your application is successful, you will be notified of yourÌýprovisionalÌýacceptance into theÌýprogram, conditional upon the successful completion of your master's coursework andÌýbachelor's degree.
• IfÌýprovisionallyÌýaccepted into the Bachelor’s/Master’s Program, you will be enrolled into your first master'sÌýcourse duringÌýyour senior yearÌýby theÌýOffice of the Registrar.ÌýTheÌýOffice of the RegistrarÌýwill make every effort to enroll you into yourÌýfirst-choiceÌýcourse, depending on space availability and will work with youÌýdirectly to ensure the proper undergraduate level course registrations are retained.
• During the registration periodÌýof the first semester of the senior year you will register your undergraduate courses for your final semester via the student portal (as usual), and you will submit a webform to the Office of the Registrar with your course selection for your second master's level course. The Office of the Registrar will make every effort toÌýconditionallyÌýenroll you into your first-choice course, depending on space availability. 
• UponÌýyour successful completion of your first master's course,ÌýtheÌýProgram DirectorÌýwillÌýevaluate yourÌýdossier and issue a letter of confirmation ofÌýformalÌýacceptance into the program.Ìý
• Upon successful completion of your bachelor's degree, you will be officiallyÌýmatriculatedÌýinto the master's program!
