Bachelor's/Master's Program

Bachelor's/Master's Program

The Bachelor's/Master's Program at The American University of Paris is a way for motivated, currently enrolled undergraduate students at AUP to begin working towards a combined bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degree during their senior year. Through careful course selection, students taking this option can earn double credit by taking up to two master鈥檚 level courses as part of an undergraduate degree, saving money on their postgraduate studies while, in some cases, graduating a semester early, and securing an early and expedited acceptance.

A combined bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degree offers both the academic grounding of AUP鈥檚 global liberal arts undergraduate curriculum and the specialization of postgraduate study. By accelerating your master鈥檚 program, you鈥檒l be taking graduate-level courses with postgraduate students as part of your bachelor鈥檚 degree requirements. It鈥檚 an option that requires dedication and hard work, but prepares you well to enter the workforce with a graduate degree ahead of your peers.听听

A Combined Degree in Three Bullet Points

  • Start Your Master鈥檚 Early: Take one or more听master鈥檚 level courses in your senior year of undergraduate studies.
  • Earn Double Credit: Up to 8 credits will count toward both your bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 requirements.听
  • Save Money: Graduate having taken fewer total courses across two degrees, reducing your tuition costs and general expenses.听

How It Works

Our Bachelor's/Master's Program lets you take one or more听graduate-level courses in your senior year of undergraduate studies. You will be able to assign up to 8 credits from these courses to both your bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degree requirements.听听

You can combine any undergraduate major with any of AUP鈥檚 master鈥檚 programs. Depending on how closely your chosen subjects align, graduate courses taken during your bachelor鈥檚 will either contribute to the major鈥檚 core requirements or require use of elective credit. If the latter case, it is important to plan ahead to ensure you have elective credits left in your senior year to apply for the Bachelor's/Master's Program.

Is This Option Right for You?

  • Do you want to complement your undergraduate academic portfolio with an additional specialization to increase your competitive edge in the job market?
  • Are you a focused and ambitious student with clear employment goals, looking for the most efficient path to a postgraduate degree?听

THE APPLICATION PROCESS AND听SENIOR YEAR

  • You can start discussing a combined bachelor's/master鈥檚 degree with your academic advisor from the moment you arrive at AUP 鈥 but you won鈥檛 apply for the option until your junior year. You鈥檒l need to show you have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and have earned at least 64 credits.
  • To begin the application process, you鈥檒l meet with a professional staff advisor at the ACE Center and submit (or re-submit) a Junior Degree Check (JDC) that clearly lays out your plan to complete the requirements of your bachelor鈥檚 degree while layering in up to 8-credits worth of master's course work during your senior year.
  • Once you鈥檝e meet with an ACE advisor, you will be provided with a link to the Expression of Interest Form, which serves as a streamlined application.
  • Expression of Interest Forms will be reviewed by AUP's Office of听麻花影视 and by the Program Director of your master鈥檚 program of choice.
